The People v. Kenney
Freedom to move
Right to stay, and to Return
We are many.

> Ongoing Updates on Jason Kenney here…

Conservative Minister of Citizenship, Immigration and Multiculturalism Jason Kenney is known as the ‘Minister of Censorship and Deportation’ because he is one of the most repressive immigration ministers in Canadian history. Under Kenney, deportations have increased, while the number of people accepted as refugees and sponsored family members have drastically dropped. Instead, Kenney has increased the number of temporary workers who are constantly exploited for their labour.

Kenney is also a staunch supporter of imperial military missions. He supports the occupation of Afghanistan, has stifled voices opposed to the war in Iraq and Afghanistan, and has defended the illegal Israeli occupation of Palestine. Kenney’s neoconservative values are further obvious in him pulling Canada out of the Durban World Conference Against Racism; his introduction of a citizenship guide that omitted the rights of lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans and queer (LGBTQ) communities; his ban on the wearing of the niqab during citizenship ceremonies; and stating that immigrants are not integrating well into Canada.

> NOII-Van’s Ten Reasons to Stop Harper’s Conservatives here…

Jason Kenney is a key Minister in Stephen Harper’s Conservative Federal government. Across this country, we can unfortunately predict the social, political, and economic terrain over the next few years under Harper’s reign: more money for military, police, and prison expansions; corporate tax cuts; lack of social and environmental protections; and further marginalization of low-income, Indigenous, refugee, single mother, and working communities.

> Read About “No One Is Illegal, the System Is Illegal” here…

We do not simply advocate for more humane politicians or more generous laws. We understand that the Canadian state and its economy are built on the theft of Indigenous lands; the exploitation of labour, especially slave, migrant, and reproductive labour; and the global appropriation of natural resources. We demand an end to detentions and deportations. We demand the abolition of exploitative temporary worker programs. We demand status for all those who have been deemed illegal in order to justify theft of their labour. Instead, we assert the basic principle of self-determination.
